Expedited Diamond Buying: How It Works With Our Team
For most clients starting an engagement ring process, the purchase of the feature diamond is the most expensive variable to the piece. Whether you are selecting a natural mined diamond or a lab created option, the center diamond is a significant element to the overall design picture. But, more often than not, it’s also the part of the process that feels the most opaque to clients at the outset. Not many people really know what goes into selecting the right diamond, and with all the marketing out there trying to convince you of a single direction, it can be hard to see through the weeds and into the right direction.
This is where our Gemstone Consultations really show their value: by sitting down with clients for a comprehensive discussion of their particular sourcing goals and walking them through various options that meet these standards, our clients leave with a better understanding of where their money has gone and what decision points were the most important to them in rendering their final pick. But, we do understand that for some clients, this simply isn’t an experience they are interested in having. For these clients, a simple, straightforward selection that is done by a professional and that meets a good value for their budget is the ideal, and we get that!
This is why we offer an expedited diamond sourcing option. With this option, clients leave the diamond selection to us - the professionals - and we work within their stated budget and grading parameters (if they have any) to find the best option to suit their particular design goals. This option also expedites the ring as a whole, since the typical Gemstone Consultation adds at least a week if not more to the timeline in order to account for coordinating ordering from multiple vendors, meeting schedules for the appointment, and building in time for additional meetings to hone down to picking the exactly perfect diamond. When you leave it to the professionals, you get your diamond selected much faster and therefore your design initiated that much sooner. We also charge a little less for this option, and you’ll find that our pricing is more in line with what you will see from online diamond vendors than our classic Gemstone Consultation process allows. The reason for this is quite straightforward: we don’t have to pay for shipping from multiple vendors, insurance for sometimes $100,000-worth packages, or for our time to research and walk you through multiple options over multiple meetings. This is a great option for those who are hoping to achieve the maximum size and value from their diamond and don’t care quite so much about falling in love the “the one” diamond that speaks to them.
Generally speaking, we only offer this option to clients who want a Modern Round Brilliant cut white diamond for their feature stone. This is because the Modern Round Brilliant cut truly is quite standardized across the board, with a pretty low degree of discernable difference for most clients (as long as you are sourcing well-graded gemstones, of course).
Round Brilliant Diamond & Emerald Cut Diamond Designs:
Other cuts such as ovals, Asscher cuts, cushion cuts, pear cuts, or marquis will exhibit very different length-to-width proportions or depth proportions that can dramatically affect someone’s preference for one diamond over another. Also, cut grades aren’t evaluated uniformly in these fancy cut diamonds so there is an added layer of evaluation the comes with these diamonds that simply isn’t as necessary with Modern Round Brilliant diamonds. That being said, we have also offered this option to clients seeking emerald cut diamonds and have found that works quite well, too. Generally speaking, if someone is interested in a Modern Round Brilliant diamond or an emerald cut diamond, the objective is to have the sparkliest, cleanest, largest-looking stone within their own personal sizing parameters and budget. This is a pretty straightforward evaluation that we are happy to execute for our clients.
